For this wonderful work I am grateful to CWatson! ![]() The plane has full airbrakes, a proper flight model, it´s armed to the teeth and is able to run in DBW 1.71 and non-DBW (4.09, 4.10 clean and UP3). What was years ago began as a one-aircraft study sim. This new opus also includes all of the previous IL-2 series content: IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion Pack and Pacific Fighters. These folders are mainly aimed to make the canopy frame match the fuselage color. The latest offering, Il-2 1946, adds 36 new planes, four new gigantic maps, over a hundred new ground objects, and nearly 200 new campaign missions. There is also a general gray markings folder to return to the original configuration. Just overwrite the files in the airplane folder. This is the case for the Argentinian, Brazil and US Navy skins. Oleg Maddoxs Il-2 Sturmovik series of flight simulators continues to expand. Tiger did a wonderful job despite it.You might find among the Skyhawk folder some folder with the non skinnable parts already painted to match the color of the plane. the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, and the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. This plane is a franken, so it has some areas a bit difficult to skin but not impossible to the passionate skinner. This mod could not have been done without the skillfull work of CWatson, the awesome texture job of OC-Tiger, some precious help from ton414, Beowolff and the freeil2modding administration team!!Įxtra credits: Pink_Tigger - (original 3D), F22-Raptor-2006 - (original Java coding), includes 3D work by GJE-52 This mod comes with the four versions: A-4B, A-4E, A-4F and A-4F modified (IDF - Israel). Mostly due to a lack of gas.The Freemodding team is happy to present you the famous A-4 Skyhawk!! Korea is the cut-off point for me in IL-2 (unless we're going Insurgent hunting like in Indochina or northern Africa, where most action was prop-based until the dawn of the 60s).Ī MiG should normally not bother your Spad, though - they very seldomly went farther south than MiG-Alley. And DCS is there for that.Īs far as post WW2 is concerned, I would LOVE to see a Skyraider modelled. The groundvwar is dynamic and mobile and provides scope for a lot of mission types, and some of the assets can be developed into the newer aircraft to save some time and give the devs a head-start.Īlso, with an Allied coalition on one side and NK/China/USSR on the other, there's something for the players whose preferences are for the Western and the Eastern Fronts, plus there's scope for naval and carrier operations and the whole thing takes place on the Korean Peninsula so Pacific fans should have something to look forward to as well.Īll that's missing is the Luftwaffe, but pretty soon we'll have models of every version of the 109 in the sim and then the Third Reich will have no more aircraft.Īnything involving jet oriented planeset, particularly with homing missiles is off my book.įights are boring as hell. If Bodenplatte is giving us late-war piston aircraft and the first jets, then Korea follows up neatly with the final evolution of some of the aircraft we'll have in BoK and BoBo, plus some new tech in the form of more refined and modern jets. Korean War would be my first choice for the next post-WWII area to expand into. I´d love to see a korean war setting - I´m sure it would be a nice sim! ![]()
